Deer Removal: $500.00 Base (covers 5 days of hunting and $100/deer)

Deer Removal: $500.00 Base (covers 5 days of hunting and $100/deer)

Deer culling is usually done to reduce the population and thus reduce the damage to crops and ornamental plants. Deer cannot be removed alive in New York State. They can be hunted during the regular bow and/or firearms hunting season provided that the landowner has 150 foot safety zone when using bows and a 500 foot safety zone when using fire arms or written permission of all landowners within 500 feet. Outside the regular hunting seasons a permit needs to be obtained by the landowner from the DEC and name C&C Wildlife Management as the agent to take deer from the property- the 500 foot safety zone requirement would still be in effect.

Most private homeowners won't either. C&C Wildlife Management has the permit to do the transporting for you, and will bring your trap back the following day.

*Pricing Dependent On Type of Trap Necessary for Job. Generally these species can be taken with just the nuisance wildlife permit but require damage to property including pets. If these species are simply menacing with their presence an additional permit is required from the DEC that the homeowner must apply for and then name C&C Wildlife Management as the agent to take the nuisance species on your property. Pigeons (Rock Doves) - $350 per month – a 6 month contract would receive a 10% discount and a 1 year contract would receive a 15% discount.

Pigeons (Rock Doves) - $350 per month – a 6 month contract would receive a 10% discount and a 1 year contract would receive a 15% discount.

Pigeons vary widely in color, but are generally a bluish color with a white rump with a range that encompasses the entire US. In fact, pigeons are extremely dependent on humans for food and habitat requirements. Because pigeons are arguably the most common nuisance bird they are not protected by NYS law.

Pigeons eat primarily grains and seeds that are left out by humans. They often hang out in higher locations on the edges of buildings or on the tops of steeples where they can easily see predators. Pigeons can be easily captured with specially designed cages that allow them to enter but not leave. Pigeons are monogamous with the male building the nest and the female tending to any eggs which typically hatch 18 days after being laid.

Pigeon damage is often measured by the amount of droppings which can accelerate the deterioration of buildings as well as provide aesthetic issues, including foul odors. The droppings also carry a number of diseases that can be passed along to livestock and humans as well as ruin crops.

Pigeons are often controlled with poisons and by substances designed to prevent ovulation and thus reproduction. Trapping and removing can also have a dramatic effect on current and future populations as can the introduction of a natural predator such as falcons and hawks.

C&C Wildlife Management uses specially designed pigeon traps to reduce pigeon populations full well knowing that a reduction in pigeon numbers reduces damage in the present but also reduces future populations by preventing nesting and thus replacement generations. Generally, pigeon traps are checked every two to three days with any birds removed and bait refreshed. Pigeons are $350 per month – a six month contract would receive a 10% discount and a one year contract would receive a 15% discount.

Snakes - $250 for a two week cleanout and $450 for a year long service

Snakes - $250 for a two week cleanout and $450 for a year long service

There are numerous species of snakes in NYS - the vast majority of which are not poisonous. In fact, in NYS there are timber rattle snakes and copperheads that are about the only two that are poisonous. However, in some snakes the saliva can cause an allergic reaction but this is much different from a poison. That said, the most important thing when reporting a snake is the color and detailed description which is obviously used for identification purposes although not only do patterns change from species to species but individual to individual, male to female and young to adult.

The location of the snake is also important starting with is it inside or outside and what time of day the snake(s) are typically seen. Being cold blooded snakes are attracted to warmer areas but like to hide in hard to reach crevices. Snake dens are often rocky areas with many crevices such as underneath concrete slabs or decorative rock beds.

Various snake species will breed at different times but typically young are hatched from eggs in the spring. All snakes are carnivorous and eat small mammals, amphibians and birds. One way to prevent problems with snakes is to eliminate or reduce suitable habitat such as long grass and swampy areas which typically house many prey species and eliminate crevices and other entrances into your house such as water pipes leading to a sump pump or downspouts that allow a snake to stay around your home.

Snakes don’t typically cause “damage” per se and in fact are in most cases beneficial from an ecological standpoint but are so misunderstood that they often instill fear in homeowners. Droppings are difficult to identify and about the only tell tale sign other than an actual sighting is a “shed” which is an older skin layer left behind as the snake grows.
